Tyler Parsons / Fitness
Tyler Parsons grew up in Campbellsville, Kentucky playing golf on the Taylor County High School team. He started playing on the team in 5th grade. After finishing up his golf career he went on to the University of Kentucky to obtain a bachelors degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science. While working on his degree he started personal training in the Lexington area.
When Tyler heard about the Titleist Performance Institute, which is golf specific training, he knew this was the next step for him. In 2007 Tyler passed his TPI level 1 certification and began to grow his knowledge about the swing and body.
In 2008, while Tyler was down in Orlando training PGA Tour player, J.B. Holmes, he meet Matt Killen. Matt who was already familiar with the TPI program thought this would be a very valuable asset for his teaching and players. In 2009, Tyler started traveling from Lexington to Bowling Green to work with a select few of Killen’s clients. After seeing the progress some clients made, and how much better their bodies performed it was easy to see the value in having a trainer on hand.
In early 2010 Tyler moved down to Bowling Green to start working at the Killen Golf Academy full time. He had spent a year learning more about the swing from Matt while implanting what he knew about how the body worked and moved. Tyler then began teaching players and explaining how certain movements could be due to lack of flexibility or inhibited muscles.
In 2011, Matt and Tyler wanted to put their knowledge to the test. If someone, Tyler, worked on their swing AND dedicated their time to the gym doing what he taught, how much club head speed could be gained? Tyler started at a very impressive 118 club head speed, above tour average. After just a few short cold months, (March-June) training in the gym and using Trackman, they were surprised with their answer. Tyler was able to climb to the low 150’s producing ball speeds well over 200 mph! With speed like this Tyler began to compete in long drive competitions.
Tyler has worked and traveled with some of the best golfers in the world on their fitness. His PGA Tour clients include: Kenny Perry, J.B. Holmes, Josh Teater, and Blake Adams
He has also worked with the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky men’s golf teams as well as numerous high school teams and individuals.
Tyler now trains clients in the gym for golf specific movements and also teaches 6 days a week at Olde-Stone.
